Your Shooting Journey Starts Here!

Grant Award Announcement

Congratulations to the South Texas Competitive Shooting Team!

We’re proud to announce that The South Texas Competitive Shooting Team has been awarded a MidwayUSA Foundation Range Development Grant!

This grant will directly support vital equipment upgrades at Mission Skeet & Trap Club, including the replacement of a trap machine and the addition of five new sporting clays machines to enhance our existing sporting clays course.

These improvements will greatly benefit our youth athletes and community members by providing a more dynamic and reliable training environment. We’re committed to offering top-quality facilities, and this grant brings us one step closer to that goal.

A sincere thank you to the MidwayUSA Foundation for investing in the future of youth shooting sports in South Texas.

Stay tuned for project updates as we bring these improvements to life!

On the Line: News & Updates

Big things are happening at Mission Skeet & Trap Club as we continue to invest in the future of our facility and the athletes who call it home.

Grant Awarded for Range Development

We’re proud to announce that the South Texas Competitive Shooting Team has once again secured a Range Development Grant from the MidwayUSA Foundation. This cash grant will fund key improvements across the club and continue to elevate the experience for all shooters.

New Skeet Field & Fresh Paint

With the completion of our new skeet field on Field #2, we’re keeping the momentum going! Plans are in place to paint all high and low skeet houses across the facility to give the range a clean, refreshed appearance, weather permitting we will have it done by the end of June 2025.

If you haven’t had the chance to shoot on the newly completed skeet field under the lights, we highly encourage you to make time—it’s an experience you don’t want to miss!

Archery Range Expansion

Our archery range is growing! We’re extending it out to a full 100 yards—up from the current 75 yards—which already includes over 30 3D targets. Skeet Director Aaron Alvarado will oversee this expansion, including moving the current berm to accommodate the longer range.

Brush Removal and Parking Improvements

Mr. Alvarado, along with dedicated parents from the South Texas Competitive Shooting Team, will also be leading brush clearing efforts:

  • South of the clubhouse to allow for additional parking

  • West of the five stand to open up views of the sporting clays course

These efforts are part of a larger plan to enhance both visibility and accessibility on the property.

Elevation Survey and Surface Upgrades

Thanks to a partnership with civil engineering firm Meldon & Hunt, an elevation survey is underway to prepare for major improvements to our parking areas. Plans include:

  • Bringing in caliche to level and stabilize the lot

  • Milling and spreading asphalt millings previously purchased by the club

Pistol Range Refresh

The pistol range is also getting some well-deserved attention!
All tables have been repainted and newly carpeted, giving the range a clean and polished look. We will also be replacing the overhead railroad ties, many of which have seen one too many impacts over the years. These upgrades aim to improve both aesthetics and safety.

Future Facility Enhancements

Looking ahead, we have several exciting projects in the works:

  • Construction of a second clubhouse

  • Installation of a covered palapa for events and gatherings

  • A two-bay garage to store clay targets, sporting clays machines and large equipment

  • Golf cart/Polaris rental storage units

  • Lighting upgrades on Fields 1, 3, and 4 over the next two years

We are grateful for the ongoing support of our community and members. Stay tuned for more updates as these improvements unfold—we’re building something special here at Mission Skeet & Trap Club! If you want to be part of the growth at Mission Skeet & Trap Club reach out to our Skeet Director and Coach for Team STX Aaron Alvarado.
