We’re proud to announce that The South Texas Competitive Shooting Team has been awarded a MidwayUSA Foundation Range Development Grant!
The grant equipment has officially arrived, and we’re excited to share that we now have a brand-new trap machine on Skeet Field #1. In addition, the new sporting clays machines are already hard at work enhancing our course.
These improvements greatly benefit our youth athletes and community members by providing a more dynamic, reliable, and high-quality training environment. We’re committed to offering top-tier facilities, and this grant brings us one step closer to that goal.

Big things are happening at Mission Skeet & Trap Club as we continue to invest in the future of our facility and the athletes who call it home.
Grant Awarded for Range Development
We’re proud to announce that the South Texas Competitive Shooting Team has once again secured a Range Development Grant from the MidwayUSA Foundation. This cash grant will fund key improvements across the club and continue to elevate the experience for all shooters.
Meldon & Hunt, together with Victor Ramirez, owner/operator of Norias Aggregate Supply, have partnered with the South Texas Competitive Shooting Team and J. Salazar Construction to complete range improvements, including elevation surveys needed to improve parking, expand the archery range, plan for future golf cart storage units, and design a new facility to host larger indoor hunter education classes.
These efforts are part of a larger, long-term plan to enhance visibility, accessibility, and overall functionality of the property, ensuring it continues to grow as a premier training and competition venue for youth shooting sports.
Future Facility Enhancements
Looking ahead, we have several exciting projects in the works:
Construction of a second clubhouse
Installation of a covered palapa for events and gatherings
A two-bay garage to store clay targets, sporting clays machines and large equipment
Golf cart/Polaris rental storage units
Lighting upgrades on Fields 1, 3, and 4 and at the archery range over the next two years

Established in 1964 as the McAllen Gun Club, our nonprofit organization has been providing a welcoming space for recreational and competitive shooting, hunter education, and fostering a community of like-minded enthusiasts.
Our Club is nestled just ½ mile south of Expressway 83 on Conway Avenue (FM 1016), easily accessible and marked by our Mission Skeet & Trap Club signs on the west side of the road. We are delighted to open our doors to the public on Sundays and Wednesdays from noon to sunset, allowing everyone to experience the thrill of skeet and trap shooting.
